Industrial tablet with optional accessories

The RUGGED Tab 10 i5 is equipped with an Intel® Core i5-1235U CPU, 16 GB RAM and a 128 GB m.2 SSD equipped. The robust housing has space for the most important connections and can be supplemented with a wide range of accessories, such as a 2D scanner or a docking station. This makes the tablet the perfect companion in application areas that require high performance for demanding software, e.g. in construction site management and logistics.

Bridge battery, integrated WiFi, optional operating system

Despite its active cooling, the tablet has an extended temperature range of -20°C to +60°C and is dust and waterproof to IP65. The integrated bridge battery ensures that the time is bridged when the battery is changed and uninterrupted work is possible. The RUGGED Tab 10 i5 is already equipped with Wi-Fi and can be upgraded with either Windows 11 Pro or Windows 10 IoT. The display has a size of 10.1″ with a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels.

3x 4K for digital signage applications

The ONE H610 is equipped with a powerful Intel® Core® i5-12400, 16GB RAM and a 512GB NVMe SSD. Thanks to its integrated Intel® UHD graphics unit, three video outputs (1x DisplayPort, 2x HDMI), which enable a maximum resolution of 4096×2160@60Hz (4K) on 3 screens, and the compact dimensions of just 36 x 180 x 180 mm (H x W x D), the system is perfect for use in price-sensitive digital signage applications where space is at a premium.  

Optional equipment and connections for Thin Client

As is usual with spo-comm industrial PCs, the ONE H610 can also be optionally equipped with Windows 11 Professional and Windows 10 IoT. There is also the option of WiFi.  

Despite its small dimensions, the housing of the ONE H610 offers an enormous variety of connections, including two audio ports (line-out and mic-in), a Kensington lock and a SIM card slot. A Gigabit LAN port and a total of 9x USB ports (4x USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2×1, 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1×1, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1×1 Type C) are also located on the housing and also enable use as a thin client.

Our RUGGED Q470E is ideal for classic industrial applications as well as for Industry 4.0 and automation. With dimensions of 242 x 240 x 85 mm, the housing offers numerous interfaces that are important for industry, including 4 COM ports, 8 USB ports (4x 3.0 and 4x 3.1 Gen 2) and 8 Gigabit LAN ports. Fanless industrial control computer 

The ONE J6412 combines the eponymous Intel® Celeron® J6412 processor with 8GB RAM and a 128GB eMMC SSD. In contrast to the two other ONE systems H610 and i5, the ONE J6412 is passively cooled and can therefore – and because of its COM RS232 interface – be used as a low-cost computer for industrial control.

Integrated WiFi and small dimensions 

The ONE J6412 comes with a fanless housing measuring just 30 x 116 x 107 mm (H x W x D). In addition to the COM port already mentioned, the Mini-PC has four USB 3.2 ports, one DisplayPort 1.2 and one HDMI 2.0. A Gigabit LAN and two audio ports can also be found on the housing.

Like all spo-comm Mini-PCs, the ONE J6412 can also be equipped with an optional operating system. WiFi is already integrated here, as is a VESA mount.

Compact multi-monitor PC

The heart of the ONE i5 is the Intel® Core™ i5-1235U CPU, which is paired with 16GB RAM and a 512GB NVMe SSD. The compact housing (24 mm x 240 mm x 174 mm) offers three HDMI 2.0 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4, which enable content to be played in a resolution of 7680×4320@60Hz (8K). This makes the ONE i5 the perfect PC for multi-monitor applications.  

HDMI-In for streaming and other connections

Thanks to the HDMI-in port, the system is also ideal wherever incoming video signals are processed, for example for all streamers and creative people.

The ONE i5 has a variety of ports, including one Gigabit and one 2.5 Gbps LAN port, as well as six USB 2.0, two USB 3.2 and one USB 3.1 Type C port. There are also two audio ports, a Kensington lock and a SIM card slot on the casing. As usual with the spo-comm Mini-PCs, the ONE i5 can be optionally equipped with an operating system and WiFi.

2x DisplayPort for 4K digital signage

The CORE 3 is perfect for use as a digital signage player in environments where space is at a premium. At the heart of the housing, measuring just 36mm x 147mm x 165mm (H x W x D), is a powerful Intel® Core® i3-N305 processor with 8 efficiency cores with max. speed. 3.8 GHz. This is supported by up to 32 GB of DDR5 RAM and up to 2 TB of M.2 NVMe SSD, as well as the integrated Intel® UHD graphics unit. Thanks to the 2 DisplayPort 1.4a ports (optionally an additional one via USB C), content can be displayed in a resolution of 4K @ 60 Hz on 3 screens simultaneously.

Optional COM port, 2x LAN and extended temperature range

But the new system is not only suitable for DS applications. Our CORE 3 also feels right at home in industrial environments, such as industrial control applications. This is ensured by the extended temperature range of 0°C to +60°C, two LAN ports (1x 2.5 Gbps) and a COM RS232/422/485 connection.

Thin client and a total of 6x USB

The super-compact mini PC offers various connections for different applications. In addition to two audio ports (1x MIC-IN and 1x LINE-OUT) and a USB 3.2 Gen1 on the front panel of the CORE 3, there are four more USB ports (2x 3.2 Gen2, 2x 3.2 Gen1) on the back. As usual with spo-comm PCs, the CORE 3 can also be optionally equipped with Windows 11 Professional, Windows 10 IoT and Ubuntu. There is also the option for WiFi. For this reason, the CORE can also be used as a thin client.

It happened at a time in the spring of 2022…

… when Alex, one of our production employees, contacts CEO Michael Sporrer with a request. Both Alex and three of our other employees work as team leaders for the “High Octane Motorsports” club and were looking for sponsors for their latest project. The pitch of the project aroused inspiration and curiosity in the ranks of the company. Finally, Michael decided to sponsor a KUMO VI for the Octanes and the journey began.

The KUMO VI is on its way

Arriving at the Octanes in Erlangen, our KUMO embarks on a special journey. In the 22/23 season race car, our digital signage PC is responsible for supporting autonomous driving.  

The KUMO is installed in the chassis behind the driver’s seat. A few changes had to be made so that it could be installed in this position and also make the best possible use of its performance. As the regulations require all calculations to take place in the vehicle, a new housing was produced for the KUMO VI, which must be waterproof and at the same time ensure good cooling. Among other things, the entire vehicle is subjected to a so-called “rain test”, which ensures that the sensitive innards in the vehicle remain dry even when used in pouring rain. The PC must also be secured in such a way that it remains in place despite the acceleration and centrifugal forces.  

 

Ready, Set, Go – rollout in May 2023

At the beginning of May last year, the time had come – the rollout of the racing car was completed. Our trainees Patricia and Maxim had the honor of attending the event and watching the presentation of the FAUmax Pi. During the presentation, many exciting facts and sub-projects of the car were explained, as well as difficulties during production.  

Finally, there was the opportunity to take a closer look at the FAUmax Pi, take pictures and, above all, ask questions. Here, our trainees had everything explained to them in detail by the team members who also work at spo-comm.  

 

How will the journey continue?

The Octanes were at three events with their “Pi” in 2023 and, despite a few setbacks, were able to win some awards for their car. The Octanes were able to score points with creative refinements in the technical acceptance tests and some strengths were demonstrated. Driving did not go as planned at the beginning and there were a few obstacles along the way, but the team was able to develop their vehicle well over the course of the season. 

As our employees are still active in the club and are interested in Formula Student, we remain in close contact and are always up to date with the latest news about the Octanes and our KUMO VI.  We have already been informed that our PC will also be used again in the new racing car for the 23/24 season. We are very excited to see what will change and how the journey will continue.

Industrial-grade PC with customizable CPU

Both Panel PCs are equipped with an Intel® Celeron® 6305E CPU as standard, which can optionally be replaced by a more powerful Intel® Core™ i3-1115G4E processor. The CPU is supported by up to 32GB DDR4 RAM and an NVMe M.2 SSD with a capacity of up to 2TB supported. Thanks to the temperature range of 0°C to +50°C, a display with IP65 certification and a robust, passively cooled metal housing, the SQUARE 18 and SQUARE 21 undoubtedly deserve to be called industrial PCs.

2x DisplayPort for 8K resolution and LCD display

The highlight of the SQUARE models is the eponymous 10-point multi-touch LCD display. The 18.5″ version has a resolution of 1366 x 768 (WXGA) and the 21.5″ version has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 (FullHD). Thanks to the integrated Intel® UHD graphics unit and two DisplayPort 1.4 connections, two screens can be controlled, allowing content to be displayed in a resolution of 7680 x 4320 @ 60Hz – i.e. 8K.

Optional equipment and connections for the point of sale (PoS)

As is usual with our industrial PCs, the SQUARE 18 and 21 can also be optionally equipped with Windows 11 Professional and Windows 10 IoT. There is also the option of WiFi.

The Panel PCs have a variety of connections, including one Gigabit and one 2.5 Gbps LAN port, as well as four USB 3.2 Gen 2×1 ports and two COM RS232/422/485 ports. The latter enable the connection of external peripheral devices and thus also use at the point of sale.

Tablet PCs – what’s special?

Tablet PCs are particularly characterized by their flexibility, as they can be used in a wide range of applications. From industry and retail to logistics, to keep an eye on stock levels at all times. Tablet PCs are also ideal for outdoor applications. For example, for documentation on a construction site, in agriculture to record field information or in the field service to retrieve customer information or similar. The tablets are not only powerful application devices, but can also be flexibly configured with accessories such as a docking station for power supply, data transfer, desktop expansion or multimedia use. The replacement battery is perfect for guaranteeing continuous use even when away from home, for example. An integrated barcode scanner is ideal for recording serial numbers in stock.

Industrial tablet with extended temperature range

With an integrated Intel® Celeron® N5100 processor with up to 2.8 GHz and up to 8GB RAM, as well as a 128GB SSD, the tablet is already well equipped. Thanks to the possible ambient conditions of -20°C to +60°C, the RUGGED Tab performs perfectly. Thanks to its fanless housing with dimensions of 270 x 23 x 189 mm and IP65, as well as MIL-STD-810G certification, it is also perfectly suited for production halls where dust or moisture are the order of the day.

8MP camera and connectivity

Our new addition is equipped with a selection of the most important connections. In addition to a USB 3.0 and a USB 3.1 interface, the tablet also has an HDMI 1.4a port with a possible resolution of 3840 x 2160 @ 30Hz – i.e. 4K. The display size of 10.1″ explains the name of our RUGGED Tab, which has a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels. It also boasts a SIM card slot, a Gigabit LAN interface, a line-in connection and a microSD card slot. The tablet has a front camera with 5MP and a rear camera with 8MP.

Docking station, vehicle mount and barcode scanner

Depending on the area of application, the RUGGED Tab 10 N5100 Entry is perfectly equipped with the comparatively large selection of accessories. If the tablet is in use for a longer period of time and not near the charging station, an additional backup battery with a maximum runtime of 6 hours can be purchased here. An optional 2D barcode scanner is available for the retail or logistics sector. In addition to the docking station, which can also be purchased as an accessory, a vehicle mount is also available if the industrial tablet is being used on construction sites or in a forklift truck, for example.
