Advertima – The artificial intelligence

The Advertima installation consists of a special camera and a high-performance computer. The camera is installed inconspicuously in a display or similar and sends its recordings to the Advertima software solution. The engine is controlled via a so-called EMS, an experience management system. The self-learning software uses computer vision, machine learning and big data to interpret the appearance, movement and context of people in real time. Advertima’s customers use the solution in the areas of smart retail, smart signage and smart building in order to distinguish themselves in the following five areas in particular: 360° customer insights, more reach and longer dwell time, more sales, as well as higher customer loyalty and the connection between an online and a physical world. The use of machine learning enables a continuous learning process to take place from existing data that is collected over time. This ensures that content adapts to changing times or trends in society.

The ABUS brand world

ABUS Kransysteme is one of the leading manufacturers of indoor crane systems in Europe and was founded in Gummersbach in 1965. Over time, the various branches such as ABUS wire rope hoists, chain hoists and a few others were added. With the establishment of subsidiaries in Spain and England, ABUS Kransysteme GmbH now has over 1000 employees at all locations.

The project: The ABUS KranHalle

In 2016, the TRIAD agency realized the so-called KranHalle for the company ABUS Kransysteme at the Gummersbach, Herreshagen site, in which the manufacturer’s current crane technology is highlighted at eight stations and customers are given insights into realistic work situations with ABUS products.

In addition to its role as a training and service center, the KranHalle is primarily intended as an exhibition center. On an area of approx. 1600m², visitors can gather information on a wide range of ABUS products and services and test a wide variety of crane systems for their own applications. The highlight of the product world is an overhead crane system, which enables a journey across the exhibition area at a height of 8 meters.

A very special feast for the eyes in the product world are various rotating steles that provide visitors with information about the relevant station. On one side of the stele a short information text is displayed for orientation, on the other side the stele is equipped with a touch display. In addition to static content, “moving image content” can also be called up at these info points.
The heart of the steles in the ABUS Brand World is an old acquaintance: The spo-book KUMO III.
The mini PC from spo-comm is integrated directly into the steles and is fed with the relevant content via the network, specifically for each stele. Depending on their desire for information and level of knowledge, visitors can call up the relevant content and navigate using the touch function on the screens.

All about the VKA e.V.

Task

The huge MultiTouch systems -par excellence- from eyefactive are quite unique on the digital signage market. This was proven once again at ISE 2017 in Amsterdam, where in cooperation with 3M the latest interactive signage solutions were presented. What can something like this look like? Packaged in a sturdy metal housing, the screens with up to 80 touch points can be found in the specialist’s range in the form of tables, terminals or video walls. The MultiTouch systems shine with their appearance, the sophisticated MultiUser software and the highly developed technology. For the whole thing to work, however, you also need a mini PC that meets the graphic requirements of XXL touchscreens. The question now is who is up to the task.

Product solution

As if we had suspected it. The mini PC responsible for the visual power comes from the ranks of spo-comm. Equipped with an nVidia GT740M and a fourth-generation Core i5, the spo-book KUMO III was previously responsible for the graphics and computing operations inside eyefactive’s touch solutions. The embedded PC is now being replaced by its big brother, the spo-book KUMO IV. With the KUMO IV, spo-comm went one better and conjured up a top-class mini PC with an nVidia GTX 1060 and a sixth-generation Core i5.
