Flexible working โ€“ our everyday life:

6:15 โ€“ 8:00 am: Early start and family time

Out of the village, into the historic old town โ€“ Patricia gets into the car at 6:15 a.m. to drive to the Nuremberg headquarters. Meanwhile, Chiara starts her day with a walk in Spalter Hopfenland to get fit for the day. Julia has already provided her two kids with breakfast, lunch boxes etc. and takes her little one to nursery at 8 a.m. โ€“ always on foot and occasionally followed by a jog.

In the morning with us:

  • Patricia spruces up her workplace, enjoys her first coffee and prepares breakfast.
  • Chiara checks her emails and appointments at around 8 a.m. โ€“ the first coffee is a must, of course.
  • Julia uses the quiet morning to get straight down to business.
Start of work

9:00 โ€“ 12:00: Focus and teamwork

The morning belongs to meetings โ€“ whether in the office or virtually, most meetings take place between 9 a.m. and 12 noon. The entire marketing team regularly discusses current projects, new products, SEO/SEA and general marketing topics.

In the morning with us:

  • Virtual and face-to-face meetings on projects, to-dos and content.
  • Concentrated work on website maintenance, processes and content preparation and evaluation.
Flexible working in the morning

12:00 โ€“ 13:00: Lunch break according to individual rhythm

Chiara gets a dose of vitamin D in the fresh air and enjoys a quick lunch. Patricia eats with her colleagues on site โ€“ in good weather on the spo-comm roof terrace and every Thursday regularly at subway. In the meantime, Julia finishes her working day as soon as her older child comes home from school โ€“ her family afternoon begins.

Lunchtime with us:

  • Everyone takes their lunch break when it fits in with their daily routine.
  • Whether alone in the home office or together in the office โ€“ the main thing is that it feels good.
Lunch break

13:00 โ€“ 16:00: Creative energy in the afternoon

When the weather is sunny, Chiara particularly enjoys working on her terrace with a beautiful view, headphones and a good podcast. To-dos such as website updates or creating new products are completed. Patricia has a similar afternoon, with good music or a podcast to listen to and focus on. During this time, she usually devotes herself to evaluating content, creating/editing images and other to-dos.

In the afternoon with us:

  • We work where and how we feel most comfortable.
  • Structured to-dos and creative tasks with personal responsibility.
Flexible working in the afternoon

15:30 โ€“ 16:00: Time for closing time and private to-dos

While Patricia gets into the car and drives back home, Chiara slowly closes her laptop. Time for some relaxation and to do some private to-dos.

Flexible working is a privilege โ€“ and our everyday life!

Whether youโ€™re an early riser, a commuter, a home office fan or a parent with a busy daily schedule โ€“ at spo-comm, work fits in with your life. Our collaboration is based on trust, clear goals and genuine flexibility.

After all, itโ€™s not those who sit at their desk the longest who are productive โ€“ but those who are motivated, focused and work in their own flow.

Reunion with partners in October

In October, our CEO took a short trip and was finally able to visit a few of our partners in Taiwan again after a break of several years. โ€œThe biggest highlights included the visit to our partners in Taiwan, where we were able to gather many new impressions and finally strengthen the business relationship in person again,โ€ said Michael in our year-end interview.

November โ€“ Visit to the SPS trade fair

As we value the personal level with partners, customers and interested parties and would like to strengthen it further, we met on Wednesday, November 15. to the SPS trade fair in Nuremberg. We had many interesting discussions there and were able to see some innovative stands. One thing we can already say: the SPS will see us again next year.

Time for spo-comm Christmas party in December

Since December 1, our products have also been available at DirectIndustry. We look forward to working with you and cordially invite you to visit our stand.

spo-comm at DirectIndustry

Every year in December, the time has come: the spo-comm Christmas party was just around the corner. We spent a fun and contemplative evening together over a delicious meal at our headquarters.

To summarize, the fourth quarter and also the year 2023 were very turbulent, but also very productive and focused on a personal level with our partners and customers. All in all, we are satisfied with this year despite some challenges and will start the new year on January 8, 2024 with fresh motivation!

Christmas party 2023

This yearโ€™s spo-comm Christmas party took place at our headquarters in Nuremberg. In addition to conversations, Christmas music and games of table football, there was a delicious buffet from the caterer, where both meat lovers and vegetarians got their moneyโ€™s worth.

This allowed us to say a fitting farewell to the past year together before we say goodbye to the inventory and our annual company vacation.

Company vacation 2023 & 2024

As every year, we are taking a short break in 2023 and will be on vacation from 25.12.2023 to 05.01.2024. We will be back on January 08, 2024!

Rรฉsumรฉ of the year 2023

Marketing: Hi Michael and welcome to the annual marketing Q&A! How did the past year go from your perspective?

Michael Sporrer: Well, how did the year go? 2023 continues to be characterized by challenges and complications. But we have also achieved a lot of positive things. For example, we have already brought many aspects of our internal process optimization to a cool level, and I would like to highlight the product launch process in particular. In addition, our product management is now really well established, we have launched many products this year, introduced a new category with the RUGGED Tablet and have even more in the pipeline for 2024.

Stumbling blocks and hurdles

Marketing: You just mentioned that there were still some challenges this year, can you give us a more detailed insight?

Michael Sporrer: The overall economic situation naturally also has an impact on us, our customers and partners, which we felt in the second half of the year in particular. The shortage of materials is still an issue and causes high costs, although fortunately an improvement is in sight.

New products, ISO certification and strengthening business relationships

Marketing: Iโ€™m sure there were also moments or projects in 2023 that were particularly memorable for you. What do you immediately think of?

Michael Sporrer: Of course, I am particularly proud of everyone involved in the company, who put up with all the hardships even in such challenging years and give their best every day without losing motivation! The biggest highlights included the visit to our partners in Taiwan, where we were able to gather many new impressions and finally strengthen our business relationship in person again. But the launch of our new tablet PC product range, which everyone was so actively involved in, was also a highlight in 2023.

I am also delighted that we have once again received ISO certification until 2026. It simply stands for quality and certain standards that we meet.

Prospects for 2024

Marketing: Surely there are already plans for the coming year, right? What can you tell us in advance?

Michael Sporrer: Our customers can look forward to updates to almost all of our most popular systems, such as our CORE 2. In general, the topic of new products will play a major role next year, and we also definitely want to expand the tablet variety in our store.  There will also be modular panel PCs as well as an entry-level series for more price-sensitive projects โ€“ all in the usual spo-comm quality, of course. We are also working on our internal processes to create greater efficiency.

Customer visits from all over the world

Marketing: On the subject of customer visits โ€“ weโ€™ve just made a few changes there too.

Michael Sporrer: We want to make more and more virtual customer visits possible, both for existing and prospective customers, so that we can show our products even at a distance and talk to each other in person. As visitors, we are also attending more and more trade fairs to meet new partners and visit existing customers.

All in all, we want to strengthen the personal level with customers, partners and interested parties again.

Marketing: Thatโ€™s about it. Thank you for your time and see you next year!

July โ€“ RUGGED Part 1

Just in time for the hot summer, we have welcomed a new system to our range that can easily withstand these temperatures. Since July, our RUGGED Q470E has enriched our product portfolio with its Intelยฎ Coreยฎ i5-10500TE processor, numerous expansion options and many different application areas. Thanks to the extended temperature range and two DisplayPort 1.2, the Mini-PC can also be used in the outdoor digital signage sector. The RUGGED also feels right at home in vehicles and is supported by a wide range power input (from 9V to 60V) and numerous extensions such as WiFi, a 4G or 5G module or a PoE module.

August โ€“ RUGGED around the world

In August, we stuck with the RUGGED theme and our RUGGED Tab 10 saw the light of day in the spo-comm world. The tablet opens up a whole new product range, but will soon have more company, that much we can reveal. With its Intelยฎ Celeron N5100 CPU, 8GB RAM, a 128GB SSD and the robust housing with passive cooling, the tablet is ideal for applications in industry, logistics or even use in vehicles or in retail.

In August, we not only added the RUGGED Tab to our portfolio, but also the BOX J6412. Words such as โ€œenergy-savingโ€, โ€œfanlessโ€ and โ€œcompactโ€ characterize the Mini-PC with powerful Intelยฎ Celeron J6412 processor and passive cooling. With the ability to operate two screens simultaneously at a resolution of 4096ร—2160 @ 60Hz, the BOX J6412 is ideal for digital signage applications. The BOX has a COM RS-232 port, four USB 3.2 Gen2x1 and two Gigabit LAN interfaces.

Internal updates in September

There have been a few changes in our sales team for the new month. Erwin, who previously worked in the service team, has now moved to our sales department. The current sales team now consists of Chris, Erwin and Kim โ€“ we listed how the three of them joined us and how their careers are defined in one of our last blog articles. In addition, our trainee Patricia in the marketing team successfully passed her intermediate examination in September.

Get to know our sales department

In the third quarter, we underwent a number of changes within the company and successfully launched three new products. There was a lot of exciting news again in the last quarter due to travel and trade fairs, and the spo-comm Christmas party is just around the corner.

We will be on vacation from 25.12.2023 to 05.01.2024 and will be back for you from 08 January.

April weather with sunny prospects

Windows 10 Pro was removed from our product portfolio in April of this year. However, the space in our software selection did not remain empty and was replaced by the newer version โ€“ Windows 11 Pro. We explain more about the different Windows versions and how they differ in this  blog post.

May โ€“ time for excursions and certifications

In May, we continued to work hard and once again successfully passed the ISO certification , which ensures that a company complies with certain quality standards.

Since this season we are very proud to be the official sponsor of High-Octane Motorsports e.V. . To mark the occasion, our two trainees Patricia and Maxim took part in this yearโ€™s rollout of the Octanes. Many of our student assistants in  production are part of this team and were delighted to welcome us on this day. It was an honor for us to watch them present their FAUmax PI โ€“ which, by the way, features a KUMO VI that supports autonomous driving in the vehicle.

In May, however, our product portfolio was also reduced by one of our vehicle PCs โ€“ the RUGGED GTX 1050 Ti was EOL.

June โ€“ Team Day at spo-comm

Once again this year, we organized a team day at spo-comm, where the individual teams were able to exchange ideas and catch up on the latest developments. The short presentations in the morning showed the progress and successes of the current projects. After this exchange, the afternoon began with delicious food from the barbecue.

The BOX N4100 has left our product portfolio, but its place will not remain vacant. The new BOX N6211  was already in the pipeline and was waiting for its big appearance at the end of June. The energy-saving mini PC in a minimalist design is equipped with an Intelยฎ Celeronยฎ N6211 processor and numerous connections. It is perfect for 4K digital signage applications and all this in a housing measuring just 115 x 76 x 27 mm.

Discover the BOX N6211

With the team day, the visit to the Octanes and the ISO certification, the focus during these three months was more on internal topics. A number of new products are already in the starting blocks for the third quarter and are waiting to make their grand entrance.

January โ€“ a productive start to the year

We launched a new product at the beginning of the year โ€“ the KUMO VI  saw the light of day and has enriched our product catalog at   ever since. With an RTX 3060 GPU, 3840 CUDA cores and the Intelยฎ Core i5-11400H processor, our digital signage professional is the perfect companion for all areas of application, such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, machine learning and many more.

February โ€“ farewell NOVA Q170

While we were saying goodbye to the NOVA Q170, we were working at full speed internally on new highlights. Since we optimized our product launch process last year, we have been able to introduce new products even more efficiently and in a more customer-oriented manner.

March โ€“ WINDBOX, WINDBOX, WINDBOX

In March, we said goodbye to another of our Mini PCs โ€“ the WINDBOX III Evo went EOL. However, we in the spo-comm team were prepared and   so the WINDBOX III Ultra  was already in the starting blocks. Apart from a few visual changes, nothing has changed for our customers, but the successor scores points with its better performance. Our WINDBOX III Ultra now features a spo-comm logo and is equipped with a 12th generation Intelยฎ Core i5 processor and a total of four video outputs.

In the last month of this quarter, the aquisa E-Commerce Week also took place again, in which our two marketing employees Chiara and Patricia took part with interest and a thirst for knowledge, as they did last year.

The first quarter was filled with new products for us, so we had less time for internal issues, but the second quarter was a different story. Our trainees went on a little trip and it was finally time for another spo-comm team day!
