Why should a mini PC decorate my workplace?

We don’t want to beat about the bush. We have simply summarized the most important advantages.

Advantages of a mini PC for the office

–    Reduction of background noise
–    Energy-saving
–    Space-saving
–    Efficient working thanks to high computing power
–    Longevity

Sounds good? We think so too. But anyone can make that claim. We have explained the advantages mentioned above briefly and concisely for you at
.

Reduction of background noise:

One of the biggest factors affecting the noise level of a PC is the cooling system. Above all passively cooled systems
contribute to a pleasant working atmosphere, as they are much quieter than actively cooled systems.
It makes sense: where there is no fan, there is no noise.

The choice of hard disk should also not be underestimated in terms of volume. If you choose in conjunction with a
passively cooled system an SSD, so you can work completely silently.

Power-saving:

As there is no need for active ventilation and the hardware of a mini PC generally consumes less power,
you also save a few costs.
Who would have thought it: Here too, the SSD makes a not insignificant contribution
(see also “What is the difference between HDD and SSD?“).

Space-saving:

It’s kind of obvious, isn’t it?

Efficient work thanks to high performance:

The use of desktop CPUs in mini PCs is now commonplace. The same applies to dedicated graphics chips.
Benchmarks beyond good and evil can be achieved even in the smallest PC case.

Longevity:

This applies in particular to our passively cooled systems:
As the passive cooling in our Mini-PCs, i.e. cooling fins and heat pipes, cannot fail, the Mini-PCs are automatically
expected to have a longer service life. The same applies to SSDs, which can record several write cycles compared to mechanically operated
HDDs.

Industrial PC for virtual reality and digital signage

Like its predecessors, the spo-book KUMO IV impresses with its innovative and unique combination of a robust, compact metal housing and an extremely powerful high-end graphics card. The latter comes from nVidia’s current Pascal generation, goes by the name of GTX 1060 and is equipped with 6 GB DDR5 video RAM. Outstanding performance is also ensured by an Intel Core i5-6400T desktop CPU (Skylake) with four cores and a frequency of 2.2 (max. 2.8) gigahertz. Whether high-resolution digital signage applications or sophisticated virtual reality solutions – (almost) anything is possible with the spo-book KUMO IV.

Four times 4K@60Hz

Thanks to two DisplayPort 1.3 ports and two HDMI 2.0b ports, the Mini-PC is capable of displaying content on four screens simultaneously at a resolution of 4K@60Hz. And if 4K is not enough, the spo-book KUMO IV even displays 8K@60Hz, i.e. a resolution of an incredible 7680×4320 pixels. It is supported by up to 32 GB DDR 4 RAM. It’s hard to believe that this extraordinary performance is housed in a compact housing measuring just 200 x 205 x 80 mm. In order to bring vehicle computing up to date, spo-comm has removed the MOVE QM77 from its range. It has been replaced by the MOVE QM87 with a fourth-generation Intel Core i5.

More connections with the same dimensions

The dimensions of the Mini-PC are unchanged and are 55 x 250 x 150 millimeters. However, there are now more connections on the housing. Instead of three, there are now four COM interfaces, two of which are RS422/485. In addition to DVI-I and DisplayPort, the spo-book MOVE QM87 now also has a VGA connection so that up to three screens can be connected. As we are once again dealing with a classic vehicle PC, the 9-36 V wide range power connection, the optional battery and the Mini PCIe slots for expansion cards have of course been retained.

More special features of Mini PCs

Performance improvement

Although the CPU of the new MOVE QM87 is “only” an Intel Core i5, it is from the fourth generation (Haswell) and is therefore newer than the Intel Core i7 (3rd generation, Ivy Bridge) of the MOVE QM77. The two processors are not only comparable in terms of performance, but the i5 even outperforms the i7 in most benchmarks, as this comparison shows. This increase in performance is complemented by an increase in RAM. Instead of eight, the MOVE QM87 can have up to 16 gigabytes of RAM.

Although the MOVE QM77 is EOL, existing projects will continue to be supplied. And if less power is required: an update for our “small” MOVE NM10 and MOVE T56N vehicle PCs will also be available soon.

Vehicle Computing by spo-comm

As the name suggests, the MOVE series is the classic for use in vehicles of all kinds. Special current transformers, optional batteries and numerous modules for mobile use (3G/4G, GPS) ensure smooth operation in every conceivable vehicle. Thanks to passive cooling and a particularly robust design, use in the extended temperature range of -40°C to 70°C is no problem.

Mini PC with lots of content

The interior of the familiar compact industrial PC surprises with numerous options that take vehicle computing to a new level. The robust and fanless metal housing measuring 250 x 55 x 150 millimeters has space for up to two HDDs or SSDs as well as modules for WLAN, Bluetooth, mobile network (3G/4G) and GPS.
