Lokomas product

If you take a look at Lokoma’s e-catalog, you will quickly notice that the range is of a high quality. Both the wide range of products and the modular composition of the products guarantee that you will quickly find what you are looking for. If you then also opt for one of the drawer-based cabinet systems, you will be making an excellent choice and are guaranteed to have your tools in the right place. The number and height of the drawers can be combined as required by the customer. Whether compartmentalization within the drawers, or the individual locking of drawers and their compartments, Lokoma meets the individual requirements of each individual. The icing on the cake of the shelving systems is the integrated visual display of the storage locations. The user is guided via a touch panel which, thanks to its intuitively designed software, allows even inexperienced users to access the stored items quickly and transparently. The documentation of access and the granting of individual access rights add the finishing touches.

Product solution from spo-comm

The touch panel is controlled by a mini PC, which, as you would expect, comes from spo-comm GmbH.
The WINDBOX III Evo, which msi ipc launched in collaboration with spo-comm in 2018, serves as a rock-solid basis for Lokoma’s shelving systems. Thanks to the fanless cooling system, the industrial computer can even be installed behind locks and bolts without having to rely on active air circulation. The flat design and the VESA compatibility of the embedded PC make it possible to find a suitable place for installation even where storage space is limited.

A seventh-generation Intel Core i5 integrated as standard ensures smooth operation of the touch panel. If you value generous memory, you can also upgrade your WINDBOX III Evo with 32 GB of RAM.

Conclusion from the cooperation between Lokoma and spo-comm

The recipe for carefree storage and operating facilities is made up of solid shelving systems from Lokoma and high-performance, fail-safe mini PCs from spo-comm.

The ABUS brand world

ABUS Kransysteme is one of the leading manufacturers of indoor crane systems in Europe and was founded in Gummersbach in 1965. Over time, the various branches such as ABUS wire rope hoists, chain hoists and a few others were added. With the establishment of subsidiaries in Spain and England, ABUS Kransysteme GmbH now has over 1000 employees at all locations.

The project: The ABUS KranHalle

In 2016, the TRIAD agency realized the so-called KranHalle for the company ABUS Kransysteme at the Gummersbach, Herreshagen site, in which the manufacturer’s current crane technology is highlighted at eight stations and customers are given insights into realistic work situations with ABUS products with the help of info points.

In addition to its role as a training and service center, the KranHalle is primarily intended as an exhibition center. On an area of approx. 1600m², visitors can gather information on a wide range of ABUS products and services and test a wide variety of crane systems for their own applications. The highlight of the product world is an overhead crane system, which enables a journey across the exhibition area at a height of 8 meters.

spo-comm KUMO III in info steles with torque

A very special feast for the eyes in the product world are various rotating steles that provide visitors with information about the relevant station. On one side of the stele a short information text is displayed for orientation, on the other side the stele is equipped with a touch display. In addition to static content, “moving image content” can also be called up at these info points.
The heart of the steles in the ABUS Brand World is an old acquaintance: The spo-book KUMO III.
The mini PC from spo-comm is integrated directly into the steles and is fed with the relevant content via the network, specifically for each stele. Depending on their desire for information and level of knowledge, visitors can call up the relevant content and navigate using the touch function on the screens.

The KUMO series from spo-comm

Our KUMO III is certainly up to the demands of the ABUS brand world. Wherever exceptional graphics performance is required in the smallest of spaces, the mini PCs in the KUMO series are exactly the right choice. The latest mini PC in the KUMO series, our spo-book KUMO IV, equipped with an nVidia GTX 1060 graphics card, also impresses our customers in the digital signage sector. The combination of an ultra-powerful graphics card with an Intel Core i5 CPU and the robust and compact metal housing means that (almost) all tasks can be mastered. For example, virtual reality solutions are also possible with the KUMO IV. With two DisplayPorts and two HDMI interfaces, the mini PC is able to display content on four different screens simultaneously in 4K@60Hz resolution. That’s not enough? Even 8K@60Hz can be displayed with our KUMO IV.

Task

With a geriatric care facility the size of the VKA, it is easy to lose track of things. This is because each location is planned and organized individually and each has its own accounting system. Flexibility and a clear and concise system are therefore important for the nursing home in Paderborn.
Software enables employees to access the central server at the head office remotely. From any location. In this way, VKA kills two birds with one stone: in addition to a uniform structure for all employees, the association is also able to bring together and archive all data and information directly.
An uncomplicated and reliable mini PC serves as an office client for the team.

Product solution

The mini PC we are talking about here is the spo-book WINDBOX II Quad.
The passively cooled embedded PC fits comfortably behind any screen and is also ideally suited for office use in the Catholic care facility for the elderly. Because the WINDBOX does not use an active fan, it creates a whisper-quiet working environment. The IPC’s four processor cores and up to eight gigabytes of RAM ensure a smooth user interface.

Conclusion

The WINDBOX is going places! For those who place great value on durability, the passively cooled solutions from spo-comm are the right choice. This is also the case for the Association of Catholic Care Facilities for the Elderly, which relies on the latest generation of reliability with the spo-book WINDBOX II Quad.

The huge MultiTouch systems -par excellence- from eyefactive are quite unique on the digital signage market. This was proven once again at ISE 2017 in Amsterdam, where in cooperation with 3M the latest interactive signage solutions were presented. What can something like this look like? Packaged in a sturdy metal housing, the screens with up to 80 touch points can be found in the specialist’s range in the form of tables, terminals or video walls. The MultiTouch systems shine with their appearance, the sophisticated MultiUser software and the highly developed technology. For the whole thing to work, however, you also need a mini PC that meets the graphic requirements of XXL touchscreens. The question now is who is up to the task.

Product solution

As if we had suspected it. The mini PC responsible for the visual power comes from the ranks of spo-comm. Equipped with an nVidia GT740M and a fourth-generation Core i5, the spo-book KUMO III was previously responsible for the graphics and computing operations inside eyefactive’s touch solutions. The embedded PC is now being replaced by its big brother, the spo-book KUMO IV. With the KUMO IV, spo-comm went one better and conjured up a top-class mini PC with an nVidia GTX 1060 and a sixth-generation Core i5. The digital signage player also does a great job with touch solutions in 16:9 format and with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The Fertile Earth enjoys great popularity in Dortmund and the surrounding area. This is demonstrated not only by the constant expansion of the sales areas and the product range, but also by the large number of satisfied customers. Customer satisfaction is largely ensured by the carefully selected product range. But the responsible and consistently friendly staff and the feel-good atmosphere of the organic stores also play a major role here. The last impression that remains with every customer, however, is the stop at the checkout after every purchase. To excel here too, the Fertile Earth team relies on a fail-safe checkout system that doesn’t leave its employees out in the rain even during busy periods.

Product solution

The brick-sized spo-book BRICK i3 provides the ideal basis for the Fertile Earth POS systems. Not only compact but also passively cooled and at least as powerful as it is robust. A fifth-generation Core i3 processor clocks up to 2.1 gigahertz, ensuring smooth and fast processes at the checkout with enormous energy efficiency.

What’s more, thanks to sufficient serial interfaces, peripheral devices such as scanners or printers always find a suitable connection. If that’s not enough, the VESA wall bracket makes it easy to mount the system. Whether under the cash register or on the wall.

Conclusion

In a careful selection process, the Fertile Earth team deliberately opted for a spo-comm system. The spo-book BRICK i3 radiates a green atmosphere and stands for a generation of longevity and will continue to reliably support organic stores in the future.

Task

Anyone who has worked in logistics, or at least had the opportunity to see the inside of a warehouse or shipping hall, knows the harsh working environment. Anyone working in such areas wants to be able to rely on technical helpers such as assembly lines and the like. After all, it is not uncommon for control units in logistics to fail as the finest dust particles make their way into the interior of electronic devices and gradually kill them off. Mini PCs, which are used in logistics, for example, are particularly sensitive. serve the processing or reproduction of information. hama GmbH & Co. KG is well aware of this susceptibility of PC systems to faults from its own experience. Our partner’s high stock turnover rate and fast, targeted work processes leave nothing to chance. This is why hama set out a few years ago to find a reliable and long-term solution.

Product solution

For those who value high performance, robustness and durability, the spo-book WINDBOX III Advanced is the right choice. hama has been relying on the predecessor of the Advanced, the spo-book WINDBOX III Plus, for some time and is now continuing an era of reliability with the introduction of the spo-book WINDBOX III Advanced. A Broadwell CPU (Intel Core i5 5200U) of the latest generation and a maximum of 16 gigabytes of RAM lay the foundation for controlling up to three displays simultaneously, with the same or different content. The closed, dust-resistant, passively cooled mini PC comes in the usual flat design and is easy to mount thanks to the VESA wall bracket.

Conclusion

Logistics made easy with the spo-comm WINDBOX III Advanced! hama GmbH & Co. KG now has around 150 systems from the WINDBOX III series in use. We look forward to continuing our collaboration.

Task

In a zoo as unique as Basel, it doesn’t get boring very quickly.
But that doesn’t just apply to the millions of visitors. There is a lot for the employees and helpers of the Zolli to do on an area of almost 16 soccer pitches. Day and night. From documentation work to organizational matters and animal care. It goes without saying that the latter in particular is a top priority in the zoological garden. Twenty-four hours a day, keepers read every wish from the eyes of the Zolli’s animal inhabitants and ensure that they want for nothing. The staff are supported by security cameras, among other things, which allow the keepers to keep an eye on their animals around the clock. In this case, heavy-duty industrial PCs are used to control the cameras. They are able to keep a cool head, or cool hardware as in this case, even in tropical climates in enclosures.

Beastly good product solution

The spo-book WINDBOX III Advanced: The mini PC not only ensures sufficient security at Basel Zoo, but is also used as a time recording unit and for everyday office purposes. In its robust metal housing, the passively cooled system not only feels good but also at home in the somewhat warmer and sometimes humid enclosures of the Zolli. An i5 processor with Broadwell core and up to 2.7 gigahertz, a RAM capacity of up to 16 gigabytes and a wide range of interfaces make the spo-comm WINDBOX III Advanced a flexible contemporary.

Conclusion – the WINDBOX III Advanced – beastly good

The cooperation with Basel Zoo is a special kind of experience for spo-comm GmbH – also for the spo-book WINDBOX III Advanced. After all, who has the opportunity to see an elephant enclosure from the inside?

Clouds.
In all variations, always in motion and each one unique. Whether as cloud cover, small isolated cotton balls or huge cloudscapes. However simple clouds may seem to us, they raise many unanswered questions. Not least because they are at unspeakable heights and usually pass by again quickly.
The darkness at night also makes it difficult to keep an eye on the celestial phenomena halfway through the day.
To make matters worse, the observation and analysis of clouds worldwide still involves a great deal of manual work. For example, a meteorologist has to go outside several times a day to determine the degree of cloud cover and the types of clouds.

PMOD/WRC took this as an opportunity to go one step further in the direction of automation. Using self-written software and an infrared camera as part of a specially designed installation, cloud research is now carried out much more efficiently.
A catadioptric system, consisting of a gold-coated convex mirror and an infrared cloud camera (the so-called IRCCAM), takes around 1,440 images of the sky every day. Cloud emissions, as well as their height and density, can now be observed, documented and analyzed 24 hours a day. Seven days a week. As the IRCCAM is located outdoors, it must also be wind and weatherproof. A demanding task – even for a mini PC – which finds its place here as a control device.

Product solution

The embedded PC for particularly harsh working environments: The spo-book RUGGED HM87. The robust IPC performs reliably even at temperatures from minus 30° Celsius to plus 60° Celsius. A generous selection of COM and USB interfaces, as well as a powerful and energy-saving Core i3 processor from Intel, make the spo-book RUGGED HM87 the ideal solution for PMOD/WRC’s innovative outdoor installation.

Conclusion

The ingenuity of PMOD/WRC makes a valuable contribution to cloud research. We are pleased to be able to contribute to this with our mini PC, the spo-book RUGGED HM87, and that the IRCCAM of the Swiss research institute has been working flawlessly for several months now.
